TURN MY EYES
Today's reading: Psalm 119
"Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word." Psalm 119:37 NLT
Through the words of this verse, I was quickly reminded of a recent eye doctor visit I had.
As I sat in the special chair, peering through the special 'glasses', watching the little screen across the room, I recall hearing the doctor say (many times), Which is better, 1 or 2?
She would change the prescription of the lens with a quick flip, then repeat the question, Which is better, 1 or 2?
Which is better, 1 or 2? I recall wondering how many hundreds of times a day she asked her patients the same question after fiddling and adjusting the strength of the little glasses.
This morning I think about how many times a day God asks me the same thing.
As I look to the world for help, He reminds me of His ways and asks, Which is better, 1 or 2?
My ways or what the world offers?
Easy or godly?
The quick response or the high road?
Convenience or obedience?
Reaction or response?
Which is better--which will lead to freedom?
Which is better--which will lead to hearing the Lord say, Well done!?
Turn my eyes from worthless things, Lord!
