QUESTIONING GOD
Today's reading: Job 37-38
"Brace yourself, because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them." Job 38:2 NLT
We all have questions for God.
Why, Lord?
When, God?
How come, Lord?
And we have the audacity to expect Him to answer. With good answers. With quick responses. In ways that soothe our hurting souls and make sense of all our roughest storms.
But when He starts asking us questions? Well, that is usually a different story!
It makes us squirm. It makes us fidget. It makes us want to crawl in a hole. Or...it makes us want to point fingers. To blame. To direct the inquiries towards others. Quickly towards others.
But I notice as I read His questions for Job this morning, and as I think over the questions He has asked me, the questions are meant to deepen His relationship with us--never push us away.
He wants to draw us closer, and that is only done when we realize fully, completely and without a doubt just who He really is. And who we really aren't.
