ROYAL ORDERS
Today's reading: Nehemiah 10-13
"They were under royal orders, which determined their daily activities." Nehemiah 11:23 NLT
Nehemiah has watched as the broken down walls of Jerusalem have been restored and the worship of the Lord re-instituted in the hearts and lives of God's people.
He is now getting down to the job of re-organizing the 'church'. He is organizing the priests. He is selecting, according to God's original laws, the choirs, the singers and the servants for the Temple.
He is reminding the people, who have been exiled and separated from each other, what it means to worship together again.
So amidst all this, I find it very interesting that the above verse sums up their instructions--and ours.
We are under royal orders, if we serve the King of Kings.
We have been given instructions that no one but the saved are enabled to do.
We are being called to a much higher calling, as His, than the rest of the world.
For us to do His work, we must follow His plans.
So, are these orders affecting our daily activities?
