INDEPENDENCE
Today's reading: 2 Kings 1-5
"After King Ahab's death, the nation of Moab declared its independence from Israel." 2 Kings 1:1 NLT
That, dear friend, is where the trouble began.
For the nation of Moab--and for us.
Independence is a tricky subject. Determining you can 'go it alone' requires fortitude, strength and a solid plan. Striking out, blazing trails and washing your hands of anyone else's help is a matter of pride and a matter of determination.
For Moab, it didn't work. Chaos followed. Sins began to run rampant. Political disease slowly crept into the framework of the new country.
For the USA, it's the same.
When we separate ourself from Israel, from God, from God's will--things begin to rot.
For example:
Schools won't allow prayer or bibles or Christmas parties.
Christian-based countries are forced, being politically correct, to cow down to the rights and privileges of Christian-hating religions.
Life's value is diminished.
Laws are changed to reflect ungodliness.
We can claim independence, our country and ourselves, but are we willing to pay the price?
