BUYING LOVE
Today's reading: Song of Solomon 7-8
"...If a man tried to buy love with everything he owned, his offer would be utterly despised." Song of Solomon 8:7 NLT
Many dollars were spent this past Christmas season attempting to buy love.
Absent dads attempting to shower gifts on kids who don't really know them any more.
Struggling moms who thought a Martha Stewart Christmas with lots of presents under the tree would more than make up for her inadequacies.
Fellas who tried to win the hearts of young gals with frivolous baubles and ribbon tied packages.
Neighbors who delivered trays of goodies in order to make amends for the strife across the fence all year long.
Buying love is not possible.
Buying favor, yes. Buying tolerance, yes. Buying affection, yes.
But love, true love, lasting love, godly love, cannot be bought.
