PROGRESSION OF SIN
Today's reading: Numbers 25-28
"While the Israelites were camped at Acacia, some of the men defiled themselves by sleeping with the local Moabite women. These women invited them to attend sacrifices to their gods, and soon the Israelites were feasting with them and worshiping the gods of Moab. Before long Israel was joining in the worship of Baal of Peor, causing the Lord's anger to blaze against the people." Numbers 25:1-3 NLT
An innocent stop at the town of Acacia.
An introduction to some new gals.
An invitation to get to know them, in a Biblical sense.
An involvement with their customs and practices.
An issue of idolatry.
The progression of sin happens just that way. Sometimes, just that simply. Sometimes, in the course of time it took to read those five sentences.
Poor choices lead to sin.
One poor choice after another leads us deeper into selling out to our enemy, selling ourself short and selling our hearts and minds to little gods.
Watch your small choices today. The innocuous ones. The petty ones. The seemingly unimportant ones. The ones that appear to hang out in the gray areas. The ones you make when your feelings are in control.
