ONLY ONCE A YEAR
Today's reading: Hebrews 8-10
"But only the high priest goes into the Most Holy Place, and only once a year, and always with blood, which he offers to God to cover his own sins and the sins the people have committed in ignorance." Hebrews 9:7 NLT
Only once a year?
If, and praise God this is the old system, it were up to a priest to carry my sins FOR THE YEAR to the altar--he would have a pack mule, a few loaded down trunks and a U-Haul to tow in behind him!
Can you imagine seeking forgiveness yearly?
Can you fathom only getting to step into God's presence once every 365 days?
Can you even perceive having someone else carry your dirty laundry to the Lord for you?
And again, only once a year?
God's plan, which included Jesus dying on the cross once and for all our sins, is the answer to this dilemna.
No priest needs to assist Him or us. No running tally needs kept over the course of four long seasons. No barrier between ourselves and the God who created, loves and wants us near Him.
