THE REST OF THE STORY
Today's reading: Daniel 1-6
"The Lord gave him victory..." Daniel 1:2 NLT
Sounds like the beginning of a great story, doesn't it?
Sounds godly and good?
Sounds like something wonderful is about to happen?
Well, if you'll read the verse ahead and the verses and chapters to follow, you'll find it's not quite what you think--but sometimes, God's ways are like that!
The victory went to the king who captured Judah. The same king who had his servant deliver to him the finest of young men from the captives. The smartest. The strongest. The ones whose lineage was the most important.
The young men like, Daniel.
Daniel's story begins with the enemy king winning a battle against God's people.
Amazing, huh?
Not like what you thought was going to happen?
Not quite how you'd have planned it?
Sounds a lot like your life?
Well, you know the account of Daniel--the friends who stood in the fiery furnace, the dreams he interpreted for the king, the night he spent in the lions' den, the faith that warranted a book in the Bible.
Maybe, just maybe, that's going to be the rest of your story, too.
