SHRINES

Today's reading: Matthew 17-19

"Peter blurted out, Lord this is wonderful! If you want me to, I will make three shrines, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah." Matthew 17:4 NLT

I have heard this portion of Scripture preached on several occasions. 

Some pastors have spoken about Peter overlooking just spending time with Jesus.

Others mentioned the fact that monuments shouldn't be built or erected for anyone but God himself.

Still others pointed out Peter's most noticeable character flaw...blurting out.

My take?

Well, this morning I honestly believe in Jesus' kindest words He is telling Peter, and us...

Be the shrine.

Being the shrine is more heartfelt and honoring than building one.
