MORE THAN OUR WORDS
Today's reading: Matthew 5-7
"Not all people who sound religious are really godly. They may refer to me as 'Lord', but they still won't enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The decisive issue is whether they obey my Father in heaven." Matthew 7:21 NLT
Not wait right there...
I know, like me, visions of Sister So-and-So or Brother Saintly-In-Words has just popped into your mind.
You were really thinking, if only for a moment, about printing off this verse and having it just laying in their pew tomorrow morning when they arrive for services.
There's a good possibility that in one quick thought, you decided this is just the section of Scripture you've needed in your arsenal--ready to spout off in the next battle of theological wits. It'll make you look good and boy, oh, boy will it ever put them in their place.
Maybe those thoughts didn't just run through your mind. Maybe it was just mine.
Either way, it's a lot to think about, don't you agree?
It becomes personal. Not a personal vendetta against another--but a personal evaluation of your own self.
Am I obeying God? Not do I know the lingo, carry the right translation or sign up for all the committees--but do I obey the Lord?
