EAVESDROPPING
Today's reading:  Joshua 1-5

I'm eavesdropping this morning. 

I'm listening in on a conversation between God and Joshua, and I will admit--I needed to hear what was said.

"I promise you what I promised Moses..."  Joshua 1:3 NLT

"...I will not fail you or abandon you."  Joshua 1:5 NLT

I'm beginning to think that no matter how old you are, no matter the size of the task at hand and no matter how 'good' you are, one still needs cheerleaders.  Backers.  Supporters.  Reminders that they can do it--whatever it may be!

I needed that this morning.

I needed to know that the God who served Moses and Joshua well, is serving me.

I had a longing in my heart to hear God say, 'I'm with you, girl'.

I needed to know someone else thinks I can do it, this Christian walk.

I realize eavesdropping is a social wrong, but I'm thinking my Lord might excuse it this time!
