OBEY AND REPEAT
Today's reading: Genesis 17-18, Psalm 7, Matthew 6:1-18
"Your part of the agreement, God told Abraham, is to obey the terms of the covenant. You and all your descendants have this continual responsibility." Genesis 17:9 NLT
I'll be honest here...
I'm not sure if Monday makes it easier to be a Christian, or harder!
It would not be stretching the truth to say I am pumped from great worship services yesterday. I'm still humming the praise music selected for our corporate worship. I'm still excited over seeing the altar used. I'm still full from seeing God move in our midst.
And yet...
I'm about to enter a world that wasn't touched by the Holy Spirit yesterday.
People I will meet will be grumpy and disgruntled. They will be hateful and spew hurtful words. They will be mean and prod me until I respond in an unlovely manner. They may or may not be easy to love.
And that's ok.
It's ok because my 'part' in this covenant I have with God has nothing to do with them...and everything to do with what He's done for me!
My end of the bargain is about my obedience. My reciprocating the love He has shown to me. My overlooking the sins of others in an effort to see them as Christ sees them. My remembering how unclean I was when He picked me up and cleaned me up.
And I need to do that for each and every person I meet.
Obey and repeat. Obey and repeat. Obey and repeat!
