WAYWARD DAUGHTER, LOVING FATHER
Today's reading: Psalm 87-89
"But if his sons forsake my law and fail to walk in my ways; if they do not obey my decrees and fail to keep my commands, then I will punish their sin with the rod, and their disobedience with beating. But I will never stop loving him, nor let my promise to him fail. No, I will not break my covenant; I will not take back a single word I said." Psalm 89:30-34 NLT
For a hard-headed, used-to-getting-my-own-way, stubborn and strong-willed princess, this morning's Scripture reading is a reassurance of how greatly, deeply and genuinely I am loved by my Father, the King.
His love for me does not change based on my obedience or lack thereof.
His promises for me never waver or change due to my ways or fulfillments.
His discipline is based solely on His love for me, His desire that I become a spitting image of Him and His belief that through Him I am capable of all He has planned for me!
Who He is is not determined by me. Who I find Him to be, however, is.
