DREAMING JOSEPH
Today's reading: Matthew 1-2
"As he considered this, he fell asleep, and an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. Joseph, son of David, the angel said, do not be afraid to go ahead with your marriage to Mary. For the child within her has been conceived by the Holy Spirit." Matthew 1:20 NLT
"After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. Get up and flee to Egypt with the child and his mother, the angel said. Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is going to try to kill the child." Matthew 2:13 NLT
"When Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and told him, Get up and take the child and his mother back to the land of Israel, because those who were trying to kill the child are dead." Matthew 2:19-20 NLT
One might be astounded at the fact that God speaks to humans.
Or at the actuality that He chooses to speak through dreams.
Or that the God in heaven chooses to allow regular, everyday people to participate in His grand plan to save the world.
Me?
I'm amazed at Joseph's obedience.
Sure, it's one thing to have an angel speak to you through your dreams...
It's another thing to know for sure it was God sent...
It's a completely other issue to see that Joseph's obedience was prompt and sure.
No hesitation. No doubting what he 'saw'. No making excuses. No asking for more signs.
He did what was asked of him. Quickly.
I want to be more like dreaming Joseph!
