Today's reading: Exodus 31-33

"The Lord then gave these further instructions to Moses: Tell the people of Israel to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you forever. It helps you to remember that I am the Lord, who makes you holy." Exodus 31:12-13 NLT

Help-to give assistance or support to; to make more pleasant or bearable; to be of use to; to benefit.

What did you do with your Lord's Day?

How did you spent its twenty-four hours?

How did you honor Him with it?

The importance of a day of rest is slipping away from us generation by generation, year by year, activity by activity.

That's sad.

He never intended His day to be like the others...busy, planned, filled to the max, scheduled with mundane activities, just another day.

It's especially sad to think that this day set apart from all the others was intended to help us.

To help us remember that He is Lord.

To help us remember the covenant He made and upholds between us.

To energize us.

To strengthen us.

And we brush it away? We make it less than what it was intended to be? We use it to serve us instead of using it to honor Him?
