PRIDE
Today's reading: Zephaniah
"They will receive the wages of their pride..." Zephaniah 2:10 NLT
Today is payday. The day I receive a slip of paper telling the bank of my work's worth for the week. The day I get what's due me. The day I'm paid back for my dedication and commitment to my job. The day my employers reimburse me for carrying out the tasks for which I was hired. The day my hard work is rewarded.
But to think about being paid back for prideful thoughts and actions?
To be brought low by my own accusations and unlovely thoughts? To be embarrassed instead of raised up? To expose the real truth--that I'm no better or worse than any one else?
It's scary. It's daunting. It's something think about.
