THE SAFETY OF THE ARK OF GOD
Today's reading: 1 Samuel 1-5
"Eli was waiting beside the road to hear the news of the battle, for his heart trembled for the safety of the Ark of God..." 1 Samuel 4:13 NLT
One of my favorite quotes comes from Charles Spurgeon in regards to the Word of the Lord...
“The Word of God is like a lion. You don’t have to defend a lion. All you have to do is let the lion loose, and the lion will defend itself.”
As I read about Eli this morning, and ponder the fact that too often we remain silent about the Lord in opportunities presented to us because we don't want to 'mess up'. We don't want it to be taken the wrong way. We don't want to let it fall into the wrong hands.
We, more specifically, I, am afraid I will make God look bad.
That I will quote the wrong verse.
That I won't have a rebuttal for every debate.
Friends, the Word of God, just like the Ark of the Lord, does not NEED us to defend it.
It does not NEED us to glorify it.
It does not NEED us to become scholars of it in order to share it at the grocery store, in our homes, on the playgrounds.
Let the 'lion' loose and see what it can do for itself!
