DISTRACT YOURSELF
Today's reading: 1 Chronicles 15-19
"Search for the Lord and for his strength, and keep on searching." 1 Chronicles 16:11 NLT
Looking for strength when you're at your weakest is not the easiest thing to do.
In psychological circles, this verses suggests a healing process called a 'distractionary technique'. It's when your mind is averted from your problem or situation by focusing, if only for a while, on something else.
We do it to kids with bandaids and stickers at the doctors' offices. We practice it on our children with popcicles and ice bags when they've falled and skinned their knees. We do it to ourselves when we take up an old habit instead of dealing with current stresses.
But do we ever whole-heartedly attempt to look for God's strength?
In our lowest lows do we distract ourselves from the weight of the matters at hand by seeking His handprints in the situation or by looking at His presence and power?
It may be time we begin to distract our minds away from the obvious in orde to see the Awesome-ness!
