LOOKING FOR A WAY OUT

Today's reading: 1 Corinthians 9-10

"...And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can't stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it." 1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT

Here's my problem, and maybe-just maybe, it's a problem you struggle with as well...

I don't always look for the 'way out' when I am tempted.

You see, I want what I want, when I want it.

Too often my eyes, heart and mind are focused on the tempting offering and I do not even glance around to see an 'off ramp' or an 'exit'.

Paul tells me I can expect there to be one.

He says I can look for it, it is to be found.

Will it always be more appealing than what is tempting me? No.

Will it always be easy to choose? No.

Will it sometimes require me to simply tell myself 'no'? Yes, yes it might!

I want to begin looking for the way out that the Lord provides!
