FAITH IN THE STORMS
Today's reading: Job 3-4
"In the past you have encouraged many a troubled soul to trust in God; you have supported those who were weak. Your words have strengthened the fallen, you steadied those who wavered. But now when trouble strikes, you faint and are broken." Job 4:3-5 NLT
I'll be the first to admit it's easiest to be a God-worshiper when the sun is shining, the birds are singing and the path is lined with roses.
But it's not always like that.
Truthfully, it's seldom like that.
Some days are stormy. Some nights are long. Some problems don't go away. Some things don't make sense, any sense at all. Some hurts are too deep. Some questions are too big. Some people are too good at camouflaging their resemblance to Jesus.
But we have to have faith in these stormy times.
We have to make sure, even when we don't feel like it or don't understand it all, that those to whom we have been witnessing see us press on towards what we've been attempting to show them.
I keep on because I proclaim to be a Christian at work.
I keep on because I have a young man in my house who I'm attempting to raise to know and trust and serve my living Savior.
I keep on because for many years I've taught children in our church and at the point in their lives when God may call them back to what they knew, I want them to see me there--still loving God, still serving in the church, still proclaiming that the Bible is my favorite book in the world!
I've got to keep on because of all the times I've encouraged another to do just that.
You've got to keep on, too, fellow pilgrim.
