EXPOSED

Guilty, Lord.  Guilty, as charged.

I have known all along that I could not fool you, and yet I tried--boy, did I ever try.

I would polish the exterior.  I would apply the smile.  I would talk the talk.  I would be present, if only in body, at all the proper things.

I attempted to act the part.  I knew my lines well enough to perform almost flawlessly.

I would try to control the emotions that are constantly evident in my eyes and on my face.

To think of it, I doubt I've pulled the wool over any one's eyes.

Least of all, You.
