LIVING ON
Today's reading: Deuteronomy 4-6
"But all you who were faithful to the Lord your God are still alive today." Deuteronomy 4:4 NLT
The most spectacular people I have ever met were my two grandmothers.
Mary Edna and Mary Malinda were outstanding, hardworking and deeply loving women.
They had little to nothing in material possessions--no fancy homes, no bulky wallets and no elegant gowns or jewels.
Nothing about them would have clued you into their value and worth until they spoke or did something for you.
Then you heard Jesus and saw Jesus.
Both of my Grandmas have passed on. They have run their races well and finished their courses. They have been welcomed into the arms of their loving Savior. They have both met up with the Author and Finisher of their faith stories.
They are in heaven--but they still live on.
In the smiles of our family members. In the memories we hold most closely. In the lives we're living because of their influence. In the homes we have built according to their standards. In the churches we serve in. In the jobs we do. In the love we share with others. In the world we're impacting by their examples.
My grandmothers still live on because of their faithfulness to the Lord. My intentions are to do the same!
