NO LONGER TEMPTED
Today's reading: Ezekiel 25-30
"Then Israel will no longer be tempted to trust in Egypt for help. Egypt's shattered condition will remind Israel of how sinful she was to trust Egypt in earlier days. Then Israel will know that I alone am the Sovereign Lord." Ezekiel 29:16 NLT
What's it going to take for us to stop trusting anything or anyone other than God?
Will it take a mighty fall on their part? Because it's coming. Imperfections will emerge. Fault lines will appear. Inadequacies will be seen. Dependability will be found to be lacking.
Will it take a mighty fall on ours? That's coming, too. We're frail. We're incapable. We're easily swayed onto the wrong track. We lack insight. We lack foresight. We lack the wisdom needed to properly govern our lives.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, holds us up more securely, loves us more dearly, can do more for us, has the entire universe held firmly in check, than our Sovereign Lord.
The day is coming when we will come to realize it, how hard will we have to fall to learn the lesson?
