HAS HE FOUND SOMEONE?
Today's reading: Ezekiel 20-24
"I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn't have to destroy the land, but found no one." Ezekiel 22:30 NLT
For many years I've heard the 'stand in the gap' portion of this verse quoted.
Usually around this time of year.
When the flags are flying.
When patriotism is at its highest.
What I seldom hear, or never really noticed until today is the first portion of the verse...
"I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness..."
There's a vast difference between someone who 'stands' and someone who 'rebuilds'.
There is action involved.
There is motion required.
There is sweat equity to be invested.
I don't just want to stand, unless that's all He asks of me to do. I want to rebuild. Starting within me. Moving on to my home. Then to my church. Then to my community.
I want to be a rebuild-er, not just a stand-er.
