SABBATH

Today's reading: Exodus 29-32

"Tell the people of Israel to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you forever. It helps you to remember that I am the Lord, who makes you holy." Exodus 31:13 NLT

If our day of worship does nothing more than remind us that holiness comes from the Lord, then it has been a profitable Sabbath.

Because our works aren't going to do it.

Our long string of committees our names are on won't do it.

Our singing in the choir, filling in in the nursery, standing at the meet and greet counter or taking trash out of the bathrooms after service won't do it, either.

It is only the Lord.

It is the work He does in us to spur us on to do those things.

It is only the Lord poured into us on our Sabbaths that will make us stand out in the hard, mean world.
