JOB'S EYES
Today's reading: Job 3-4
"I have no peace, no quietness. I have no rest; instead, only trouble comes." Job 3:26 NLT
I believe we would all agree, on the worst of our own days, we wouldn't trade our lives for Job's.
He had a rough season to walk through. He was handed things that singularly would have been unimaginable, but all at once--we all shudder to think.
We know how the account of Job ends. We gain strength from his faith. We are encouraged by his determination to praise God and not turn away from him.
But in this verse. For this small span of time. In the beginning of his book, we see what happened as his eyes wandered off God.
We've all been there.
We've all been distracted from hope, peace and joy by the outward circumstances.
We've all had well intentioned people side-swipe us with mis-spoken words.
We've all allowed our eyes to be distracted from the Cross.
We've all placed blame on the humans walking around us instead of on our enemy.
As in Job's case, we have to make the decision to look back to Christ. We have to choose where our eyes will seek what our hearts need. We have to push aside distractions and focus intently on God, His promises and His will.
Where are you looking this morning?
