SERVERS
Today's reading: John 1-2
"Jesus told the servants, Fill the jars with water. When the jars had been filled to the brim, he said, Dip some out and take it to the master of ceremonies. So they followed his instructions." John 2:7 NLT
Imagine yourself in the shoes of the wait-staff that evening. Dressed to the nines in their black pants and white shirts with crisp towels draped over an arm. They'd been working their tail-ends off as the wedding party celebrated. And now an out-of-towner asks them to take a goblet of 'water' to the boss when a stronger drink is what he'd asked for? They imagined heads were going to roll.
We do the same thing, don't we? We pray for a miracle. We seek His help. We ask for Him to intervene. And when He answers in a way that isn't what we recommended, we hesitate briefly before 'dipping out of the jar'. We shuffle our feet. We scratch our heads. We hem-haw around wondering how in the world is He going to make something out of this.
Think about it, friends--He has the hard part. What is asked of us is simple, believe and serve.
Matter of fact, we get the opportunity to serve today. In our churches. In our worship services. In our pews. Take what He provides and serve it up with love for the Father and gladness for the privilege He's provided.
