"...We cannot afford to add to our sins and guilt..."  2 Chronicles 26:16 NLT

The army of Israel had gone about things the wrong way.

Victorious, yes.  In God's way, no.

The leaders gathered together and decided that enough was enough.  They would dig their hole no deeper.  They would not add any more sin and guilt to their already blackened records.  They wanted no more of the Lord's wrath.

Oh, that we would do the same.

That we would take the time to stand in the Lord's presence and realize the blackness of our sins.  That we would block all else from our hearts, minds and ears but His voice.  That we would realize the debt of sin He has already paid for us--and want to place no more on His sinless head. That we would relish the freedom His redemption has provided us.

We cannot afford to add to our sins and guilt.
