PSALM 121
Today's reading: Psalm 120-121
"I look up to the mountains--does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made the heavens and the earth. He will not let you stumble and fall, the one who watches you will not sleep. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never tires and never sleeps. The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not hurt you by day nor the moon at night. The Lord keeps you from all evil and protects your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, now and forever." Psalm 121 NLT
A psalm for the anxious, one Bible commentary calls it.
A psalm of degrees, to be recited (from the heart) three times a year by the men of the time as they approached and made their way up the elevation to the Temple. The closer to the Lord's house they got, the louder the recitation.
A psalm of help, the kind of help that goes above and beyond giving assistance to our own efforts and attempts.
A psalm of reminding.
A psalm of assurance and hope.
A psalm of truth.
Maybe, just maybe, a psalm you needed today!
