LAST-DITCH EFFORTS
Today's reading: 1 Samuel 6-10
"But the servant said, I've just thought of something! There is a man of God who lives here in this town...All right, Saul agreed, Let's try it!" 1 Samuel 9:6-10 NLT
Almost-king Saul had exhausted himself and his options when his servant 'remembered' God. They had run their legs off in search of their quest. They'd spent all their allotments except for one small silver piece. They didn't know what else to do but go back home empty-handed.
Then they remembered God.
I just wonder how many people sat beside you in church Sunday who were there for the same reason? Their jobs had played out. Their accounts had bottomed out. Their hearts were almost worn out. Their marriages were on the outs.
They came looking for God in a last-ditch effort.
Was it they'd forgotten about Him? Or had He and His ways not fit into their plans until now?
I'm asking the same of myself this morning in regards to several circumstances I find myself in. Might you ask yourself?
