NO GOOD THING
Today's reading: Psalm 84-86
"For the Lord God is our light and protector. He gives us grace and glory. No good thing will the Lord withhold from those who do what is right." Psalm 84:11 NLT
Those Bible readers who like to sort out the things God 'owes' them usually will settle on this verse.
Good stuff.
Everyone is drawn and wants good things to happen to them.
The thing is, those good things usually come with hard work, commitment and a determination that surpasses laziness and an attitude of 'I'm here, bless me'.
The good things of God are most often found in places where our faith is tested, our self-control is put to strenuous rigors and comfort is set aside for holiness.
The good things of God are usually brighter and better looking after a long, prayer-filled night or after the shadows of a dark valley lift and the new day exposes the view from a new perspective.
The good things of God are sometimes sweat-drenched, effort-exerted and exposed only after we have put ourselves and our ease aside.
Haven't you seen it in your own life?
