HIS LIFE FOR MINE?
Today's reading: Exodus 21-24
"If an eye is injured, injure the eye of the person who did it. If a tooth gets knocked out, knock out the tooth of the person who did it. Similarly, the payment must be hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise." Exodus 21:24-25 NLT
I get the reasoning behind this 'eye for an eye' rule.
I believe it's an attempt to keep things fair and even.
Equality.
Establishing a basis for justice in the new land.
It makes sense to me, until...
Until I think of what Christ did for me on the cross.
None of that is fair.
His life for mine?
Why would He do that for me?
How could He ever have seen that I would be worth it?
