BROUGHT IT ON YOURSELF
Today's reading: Ezekiel 19-24
"You brought all this on yourself by prostituting yourself to other nations, defiling yourself with all their idols." Ezekiel 23:30 NLT
Don't you hate it when God uses lewd and vile descriptions of our sinful behavior?
When He chooses to 'call it as it is'?
When He wants us to know that the sins we are dabbling in are as black as the sins we condemn others for?
Prostitution.
Idol worship.
These aren't petty offenses.
These aren't sinful slip-ups.
These are sins that require deliberation, intention and all-in participation.
It's selling ourselves, body, mind and soul to the highest bidder--or even worse to one who offers things that aren't theirs to give.
It's trading the worship of God for the worship of ourselves.
We know better.
We are offended by it in the lives of others.
Yet we participate in these acts against our Lord and Savior without much thought and with little conviction.
Until He brings it up. Points it out. Calls it for what it is.
