DON'T LOSE SIGHT

Today's reading: Proverbs 4

"Don't lose sight of my words. Let them penetrate deep within your heart, for they bring life and radiant health to anyone who discovers their meaning." Proverbs 4:21-22 NLT

Letting God's Word penetrate deeply in your heart requires some effort on our part.

We've got to make the time for it. Not 'take the time', but make the time. We make time for the things that are most important to us.

We've got to digest it. Not just skim. Not just listen to a preacher talk about it. Not just read a great Christian author's thoughts on it. We've got to get into it--and let it get into us.

We've got to believe it. Believe it so intimately, intensely, wholly, that our entire lives are governed by it.

We've got to keep it in front of us, no matter what. No matter how hard the portion of Scripture appears to be. No matter how many times we've read a certain account. No matter whether we feel it applies to us or not.

Don't lose sight of God's words. Let them penetrate deeply. Breathe in the life and radiance they will bring.
