INSTALLING A GUARD
Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 22-23, Acts 26, Psalm 114
"He stationed gatekeepers at the gates of the Lord's Temple to keep those who were ceremonially unclean from entering." 2 Chronicles 23:19 NLT
Jehoida, being led by God, determined to take back his country for God--beginning with the Temple.
He installed a new king.
He set up a order of priests to serve.
He defied the current head of office, Athaliah.
He set in place guard, or gatekeepers.
He decided that nothing, and no one, unholy, was going infect God's place of worship.
It took effort.
It took determination.
It took guts.
It took consistency.
Is that why we don't do the same for our hearts?
Is there too much effort involved? Too many changes to instill? Too much time required to consistently make the necessary choices?
Here is the simple truth: If we don't guard the gates of our hearts and minds, anything can get in and poison us.
