PONDERING
Today's reading: Psalm 111-113
"How amazing are the deeds of the Lord! All who delight in him should ponder them." Psalm 111:2 NLT
As a child, even as an adult, I love learning about the stories from my family's past.
What my Great-Grandpa's did for their livings. What is was like going to Great-Grandma Browning's house for dinner in comparison to going to Great-Grandma Walker's house. About the time Grandpa Lawrence had to have an elephant pull his semi-truck out of the mud. How in the world Grandma Browning had the faith to raise a family, bury children and do it all without her hearing. To listen to the CD made for us grandchildren of Grandma Lawrence singing, she couldn't sing well but she always had a song on her lips.
I love discovering who I am today because of who they were and what they instilled in our family.
The same is true for my Heavenly Father.
I can find out so much about Him by spending time in His Word, reading the accounts of His faithfulness, knowing how His Son walked among people, loving them, healing them, calling their sins sin--and still embracing the sinner.
The more I find out, the more I want to be known for being part of His family by how I live.
It makes me think. It makes me pause. It makes me desire to apply what I know about Him to my own circumstances.
