WHERE YOU LIVE
Today's reading:  Matthew 8-10

"When Jesus arrived in Capernaum, a Roman officer came and pleaded with him.  Lord, my young servant lies in bed, paralyzed and racked with pain.  Jesus said, I'll come and heal him.  Then the officer said, Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home.  Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed!"  Matthew 8:5-9 NLT

The officer knew Jesus could heal.  The officer made the effort to find Jesus.  The officer believed all it took was Jesus' words, not necessarily His touch or His presence.

He was faith filled.  So faith filled that he insisted Jesus not come to His home, but speak the words.

Today though, would it be faith that led us to keep Jesus from coming into our homes--or something else?

Would we rather He wouldn't come over because of what He might find?

Or it would make us nervous?

Or convicted?

Embarrassed?

Would we not get to watch our favorite shows?

I know why the Roman officer didn't feel Jesus needed to come over to his house--I'm not so sure my reasons would be the same.
