THE GIFT OF JEWELRY
Today's reading: Proverbs 25
"Valid criticism is as treasured by the one who heeds it as jewelry made from finest gold." Proverbs 25:12 NLT
Even having a complete grasp of the truth that I'm not perfect, doesn't prepare my palate for the bitter taste of criticism.
Knowing it's coming from a good and godly friend doesn't always help settle my heart to the fact that what I'd feared is true--that my best isn't good enough.
Realizing true constructive criticism is supposed to make me better, hone my efforts and shine up my attempts, is hard to do when you're embarrassed.
But when I consider godly critiques as gifts of jewelry meant to accessorize my God-given talents, I can accept them and appreciate them.
I can receive them with grace. I can use them to make me more like my Lord.
