OUR PERSONAL VICE
Today's reading: 1 Kings 1-4
I'm reading this morning in 1 Kings, about the death of David and the appointment of Solomon as king.
The very last few verses of 1 Kings 4 lists all of Solomon's accomplishments, strengths and abilities.
He was a very wise man.
A very shrewd business man.
A very learned man.
A very well rounded man.
He loved the Lord--but he loved the ladies more.
So much more, in fact, that they led to his downfall. His diversion. His separation from the Lord. His defeat. His downfall. His reknown.
What's your vice? Your thing that distracts and draws you away from God? What twinkles and glimmers, catching your attention?
Be careful of it. It may be the thing that you think you have control of, but truly it controls you.
Ask God to reveal to you what you place before Him. Or maybe it's a 'who'.
