MISDIRECTED ZEAL
Today's reading: Romans 9-10
"I know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal." Romans 10:2 NLT
In this portion of Scripture Paul is talking about Jews, but if I could I'm going to apply it to some folks we know--today and maybe a little closer to home.
It's those folks who you and I know who would make excellent Christians.
They have excitement. They have energy. They have enthusiasm. They have spunk. They have grit. They have a way with words. They have a charm about them. They have a knack with people.
It's just that they don't use it for godly things.
They spend those resources elsewhere. They, as I heard an older church lady say it, 'put their fruit into bad tasting pies no one needs to be eating'.
But if these people were to be won over to Christ? If there lives were to be changed by the saving blood of Jesus? If they were to experience the salvation of God's only Son?
Then that misdirected zeal would be a monumental asset to the Kingdom!
Keep praying to that end--and witnessing to that end--and living a life that leads them to that end--and believing God's ability to work in and through all things.
