UNDERSTAND
Today's reading:  Deuteronomy 7-9

"Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God.  He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and constantly loves those who love him and obey his commands."  Deuteronomy 7:9 NLT

An old Sunday School teacher of mine told me, When you come to a 'therefore' in the Bible, stop.  Look intently.  Look deeply.  Look all around it.  You have to find out what it is 'there for'.

In today's verse, it's asking us to understand that God is who He says He is.

It's asking that we know.

That we keep in mind.

That we experience Him in His fullness.

That we realize to Whom it is we pray.  Upon Whom we depend.  On Whom we rest.  In Whom we have our hope.  Because of Whom we have the blessed promise of salvation.

Do you know it?  Do you know God that intimately?  Personally?

Do you understand?
