HE IS WATCHING
Today's reading:  Hosea 1-7

"I wanted to heal Israel but its sins were far too great.  Samaria is filled with liars, thieves and bandits!  Its people don't realize I am watching them.  Their sinful deeds are all around them; I see them all!"  Hosea 7:1-2 NLT

Israel had been freed.  Israel had been given a new, promising, land flowing with milk and honey.  Israel had been given first hand knowledge of God's power through miracle after miracle.  Israel had been selected as God's chosen people.  Israel had been provided with prophets who proclaimed the word of God.

Israel had been given an easy set of rules to follow.  Israel had battles fought for them.  Israel won wars they shouldn't have won.  Israel was given great men to lead them.  Israel was set apart.  Israel took lands from people larger in number, stronger in might and more skilled in war.

Israel had it all handed to them on a silver platter.

And they forgot about their God.

It's shameful.  It's heartbreaking.  It's beyond belief.  It's hard to understand.

It's a very sad thing when a nation forgets God is watching their every move.
