UNITY COMES FROM GOD

Today's reading: Genesis 8-11

"...Come, they said, let's make great piles of burnt brick and collect natural asphalt to use as mortar. Let's build a great city with a tower that reaches to the skies--a monument to our greatness! This will bring us together and keep us from scattering all over the world." Genesis 11:3-4 NLT

A hypothetical question for you this morning:

How's it working for us? The building monuments to OUR greatness...The attempt to keep us from scattering?

Would you agree with me--not well.

The more we applaud ourselves, the farther apart we live socially.

The more loudly we tout ourselves as being great, the more distant we become in this small world.

Unity comes from God.

Only He can bring people together. Nations together. Races together. Cultures together. Hearts together.

Only when He is our focus, our hope, our priority, will the lives we live impact other lives with the greatness of our Lord.

It's an old adage, but it's one that bears repeating...It's not about us!
