SOMETHING NEW
Today's reading: Isaiah 43
"But forget all that--it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do a brand new thing. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness for my people to come home. I will create rivers for them in the desert!" Isaiah 43:18-19 NLT
As you scan social media feeds, you may well have seen folks posting huge milestones on their pages...
Pounds lost.
Marathons run.
Debts paid off.
Degrees earned.
Hooray for them! What huge accomplishments! We all know the energy, determination and control it took to accomplish each and every one of those celebratory highs.
But part of you, maybe a large part of you, is jealous, depressed and downright angry because all you seemed to accomplish these last 364 days was to keep your head above water.
To stay in church.
To remember to pray.
To not give up and throw in the towel of life.
Those things are worth celebrating as well! You didn't stop. You didn't give in. You didn't quit!
So to all of us ending 2025, no matter which side of the camp we are in, this verse is vital!
You see, if you watched as the Lord did a whole lot in your life--or if you feel as if you and He accomplished very, very little--we get to forget all that and look forward to all He has in store for the new year and for us.
My prayer for you is this--that you will keep your eyes on Him. All day today. All day tomorrow. All the days of the new year that will 'hatch' as the ball drops tonight at midnight.
He is good. He is worthy of all our trust. He will do a new thing in all of us IF we continue to walk beside Him.
❤️
