MY SACRIFICES

Today's reading: Amos 5-9

"Was it to me you were bringing sacrifices and offerings during the forty years in the wilderness, Israel? No, your real interest was in your pagan gods--..." Amos 5:25-26 NLT 

Ouch!

When God reaches down deep and 'pokes' an area of your life that He wants to tend to, it hurts.

Well, for me it does.

This verse might as well have my picture beside it. Sure, He addresses the children of Israel--but He's just being nice and not specifically calling me out!

-Because my sacrifices, if you can call any of them that, are petty.

-My sacrifices are self-serving.

-My sacrifices are more about show and less about, well, sacrifice for my Savior.

-My sacrifices are only given when and if they are convenient for me.

Why do I do what I do for the Lord?

What audience am I performing for?

What is my heart motive in how I honor the Lord?
