DID NOT WANT THEM TO BE THEIR KING

Today's reading: Luke 19-20

Ever read a well-known passage of Scripture only to have a portion of it leap off the page? Like a new part had been written in since your last reading? A different angle of it you'd never seen before?

That's what has happened this morning as I read this small section of my favorite book in the whole wide world...

"He said, A nobleman was called away to a distant empire to be crowned king and then return. Before he left, he called together ten servants and gave them ten pounds of silver to invest for him while he was gone. But his people hated him and sent a delegation after him to say they did not want him to be their king. When he returned, the king called in the servants to whom he had given the money. He wanted to find out what they had done with the money and what their profits were." Luke 19:12-15 NLT

I had never 'seen' why it was the Master was leaving town: To become king of another empire.

But they didn't want him.

They didn't want Him--as I see it, Jesus is telling his own story. A page out of his biography.

Those outside of His realm didn't want anything to do with Him.

Honestly, that makes the 'silver' He gave me to invest all that more important this morning.

What He has, He gives to His children--to make a profit with. To re-invest into the lives of those we love and those He has placed in our paths.

What are you doing with the 'silver' He has given you?
