HOPE
Today's reading: Psalm 39-41
"And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you." Psalm 39:7 NLT
I don't know when David wrote this psalm.
Was he out under the stars as shadows grew bigger and scarier?
Was he on the battlefield and his arms and legs growing weary from the battle?
Was he in the palace determining what was best for the people God has placed him as king over?
Was he burying a child?
Was he processing what brave Nathan told him through the story of the poor man's lamb?
David had many opportunities to place his hope in places other than God--powerful places, rich places, secure places--and on a few occasions did just that.
But when it came down to it...
When an account of his life was presented...
When all was said and done...
David placed his hope, all of it, in the Lord--and the Lord rewarded it by calling him a man after His own heart.
Don't you want that for yourself?
