NOTHING TO DO
Today's reading: Job 21-22
"But their prosperity is not of their own doing, so I will have nothing to do with that kind of thinking." Job 21:16 NLT
Job was attempting to sort out, to process if you will, all the horrible things going on in his life.
He had done some soul searching, he was 'counseled' by his friends, and now--well, now he was in the stage of his grief where he started to compare his testimony to that of others.
That's a very human thing to do, but it's also a very dangerous thing to do.
Job noticed the bad turn he was taking and corrected his attitude--so I will have nothing to do with that kind of thinking.
What brilliant words!
What life-changing words!
What path-redirecting words!
How often do we need to speak those words to our own minds and hearts?
Self, I will have nothing to do with that kind of thinking!
How many times in a single day do we need to look in the mirror and repeat Job's statement?
Hey you! Yes, you! Don't have anything to do with that kind of thinking!
How many times in the course of an hour's time should we make that same statement to our enemy?
Satan, I will have nothing to do with the kind of thinking you are suggesting to me!
Write out Job's words and put them in prominent places around your house--just as a reminder that you will have nothing to do with 'that' kind of thinking.
