NOT ENOUGH
Today's reading: 1 Samuel 11-15
"But when you were afraid of Nahash, the king of Ammon, you came to me and said that you wanted a king to reign over you, even though the Lord your God was already your king." 1 Samuel 12:12 NLT
Why isn't God enough for us?
How come having our Creator and Redeemer living in us, walking beside us, going before us and behind us, leaves us desiring a single thing more?
We want answers to prayer.
We want wet fleece--or dry fleece, like Gideon.
We want doors opened.
We want calm seas, cloudless days and rainshowers--but not storms.
We want diagnoses to be non-cancerous.
We want assurances plastered like billboards.
We want joy that bubbles out and over.
We want love that shows up in the form of roses and chocolates and peanut butter and jammy kisses.
We're never satisfied with having God.
As if He is not enough.
'...you wanted...even though the Lord your God was already your king.'
