PERSONALIZED
Today's reading: 2 Samuel 20-24
"...The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the strength of my salvation and my stronghold, my high tower, my savior and the one who saves me from violence." 2 Samuel 22:2-3 NLT
I find great comfort and example in how David chooses to personalize God.
As a king, he could have deferred to God's help in sovereign matters--casually mentioning his name in a state of the union address.
As a shepherd, he could have assumed God was too, well too much of just about anything, for a lowly shepherd. Too powerful, too mighty, too holy, too honorable.
But David chose to take God at His word and made Him his own.
Not a random power. Not a generalized notion. Not a far-off helper.
My God. My rock. My fortress. My savior. My shield. My stronghold.
Do we do the same?
Is He yours? Truly? Wholly? Undeniably? Without question, yours?
